This alliance brings together neurology experts from major medical centers across northern, central, and southern regions, aiming to harness local academic resources to conduct in-depth research on PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) and CBS (Corticobasal Syndrome), two rare atypical Parkinsonian disorders. Our goal is to enhance understanding of these rare diseases and pave the way toward providing patients with a ray of hope for future treatments.
PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy) and CBS (Corticobasal Syndrome) are two rare neurodegenerative diseases that typically affect older adults and have a profound impact on patients’ motor, cognitive, and daily life functions. Symptoms of these diseases include difficulty with motor coordination, gait abnormalities, speech difficulties, and cognitive decline, often being initially misdiagnosed as Parkinson’s disease or other neurodegenerative disorders. The pathological features of PSP and CBS involve the deposition of Tau proteins, leading to the degeneration of neurons in regions such as the cerebral cortex and basal ganglia. Currently, there is no cure for these conditions. Through in-depth research, we aim to connect the research efforts of the community and unite in finding more precise diagnostic methods and innovative treatments, bringing hope to patients and their families, slowing disease progression, and improving quality of life.
